National Infant Immunization Week 2025: Protecting Our Future

Every year, National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) highlights the importance of protecting infants and young children from vaccine-preventable diseases NIIW will take place from April 21-28, bringing together health care professionals, parents, and public health organizations to promote immunization efforts and raise awareness about their critical role in children’s health.

Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect infants from serious illnesses such as measles, whooping cough, and polio. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a series of immunizations for infants and young children to build immunity early in life. By ensuring that children receive their vaccines on schedule, parents can help prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases and contribute to community-wide immunity.

Health centers play a role in promoting and providing vaccinations during National Infant Immunization Week. Here are some ways your organization can participate:

  • Educate parents and caregivers by distributing informational materials in your communities
  • Partner with local organizations and schools to increase outreach and ensure more families have access to immunization services.
  • Provide resources and train staff to address vaccine hesitancy and provide clear, evidence-based information to families.
  • Utilize social media and digital platforms to share important messages about infant immunizations

National Infant Immunization Week is a reminder of the importance of vaccines to protect infants, children, families, and communities. By staying informed and advocating for immunization, we can help ensure a healthier future for our communities.
