BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Multiple organizations around the Bismarck community are making an effort to destigmatize substance abuse to help those who struggle with addiction to reach recovery.

The Northland Health Centers united these organizations at Sertoma Park to provide resources and information to the community about the issue. Among the professionals from these groups were people ranging from family members of addicts to addicts themselves.

“I know there’s a lot of stigma about substance use disorder, myself even, before I learned anything about it,” said Breann Raymond, nurse practitioner at Northland Health Centers. “You have these thoughts, and you learn a lot of times that it affects a lot of people, whether it’s the person with the substance use disorder, family members, friends. Really affects people and therefore affects the whole community.”
