Northland Health Centers offering women’s heart health screenings
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Women are often caregivers in a family, but don’t always have the time, or money, to care for themselves.
Roughly 71 percent of women are actually making routine visits to the doctor’s office, according to nurse practitioner Tasha Leier.
She said as a fellow busy mom she understands that it can be tough for women to take time to care for themselves.
“I know as a mom, I have three kids- we kind of put ourselves on the back burner,” said Leier.
She said women should take the time for these checkups, as heart disease is the leading cause of female deaths.
“At least you have that little bit of peace of mind,” said Leier.
Leier said to help with women’s limited time and sometimes limited budget, Northland Health Centers is offering a $25 cholesterol, glucose and vital screening.
“These are some ways that we can do quick easy screenings to target those and help prevent those things,” said Leier.
She said the screening lasts about five minutes and payment is due at the time of the visit.
